What Is Welded Wire Reinforcement? 

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in the world, but on its own, it has limitations. While concrete performs exceptionally well under compression, it is more vulnerable to cracking, shrinkage, and tensile stresses. That’s where welded wire reinforcement (WWR) comes in.

Understanding Welded Wire Reinforcement 

Welded wire reinforcement, often referred to as WWR or welded wire reinforcement mesh, is a prefabricated grid made from steel wires that are electrically fuse-welded together at each intersection. The wires are arranged in precise longitudinal and transverse spacing to create a reinforcement system that helps distribute loads and control cracking in concrete. Spacing patterns on the WWR can be square or rectangular.  They can also be produced with custom variable spacing.  Cross wires and line wires can also be in matching Wire Sizes, and/or can be varied. 

Unlike traditional loose rebar that must be tied together on-site, welded wire reinforcement arrives ready to install, helping contractors reduce labor, save time, and improve consistency. 

How Does Welded Wire Reinforcement Work?
